Stillwater Counseling
New Graduate Supports
The transition from high school to college or post-secondary life is exciting—but it can also be overwhelming. Our transition planning program helps both students and families prepare intentionally for the academic, social, emotional, and practical changes that come with increased independence and change of environment.

You or your student will leave this intensive, 3 session, experience with an individualized plan that includes
-
A comprehensive review of the routines and structures critical to your success
-
An assessment of your personal strengths and risk factors and a plan to act on them day 1
-
Can include supporting documentation for Student Accessibility Services
-
-
A plan to maintain your community at home while fostering a strong, values aligned community at school
-
A developmentally grounded and values driven understanding of the environmental and personal challenges faced by first year students

In addition to our 3 session intensive there will be a summer peer support group, parent group, and individual modules specific to student athletes. Sessions will start in the summer following graduation but can be available earlier. A free consultation is offered to ensure that the program meets your needs.

We help graduates carry forward what works, leave behind what doesn’t, and build routines and strategies that support success from day one.

-
Building new structures for independence, time management, sleep, meals, and self-care
-
Understanding the academic expectations and structure of post-secondary environments
-
Identifying strengths, resiliency factors, and personal goals
-
Exploring challenges students may encounter in a new environment
-
Planning for both formal and informal supports on campus and in the community
